Demonstrate once on your own hand, then put the phone away.

Say to the child

“Use one finger to slowly trace around each finger from thumb to little finger.”

How the game continues

  1. Start at the thumb.
  2. Trace up and down each finger.
  3. At the end, count all five fingers.

You are done when

At the end choose a hug, a smile or a quiet pause.

If you get stuck

Do not force it. Shrink the task to one round or stop the activity.

More rounds

  • Close your eyes only when it is safe.
  • The adult shows their own example first.
  • The child chooses the pace and the ending.
