Stay side by side in a safe spot, facing the same way. Describe the route using only words.

Say to the child

“Choose a destination in the room and explain the route without walking there.”

How the game continues

  1. Choose a visible destination.
  2. Use the words left, right, straight and stop.
  3. The adult repeats the route in words.
  4. If you want, swap roles and choose a new destination.

You are done when

Finish after repeating the route. If you want, swap roles and choose a new destination.

If you get stuck

If directions are difficult, choose a destination straight ahead and use only straight and stop. Nobody moves.

More rounds

  • The child keeps the destination secret. The adult guesses it from the route.
  • Add one landmark to the description, such as a sofa.
  • The adult repeats the route with one mistake and the child corrects it. Nobody moves.

Safety

Play in a safe spot. Nobody climbs on furniture.
